Marangattupilly is a Grama Panchayat situated in Meenachil Taluk of Kottayam District, within the Uzhavoor Block Panchayat. It comprises the revenue villages of Kurichithanam, Elackad (partly) and Monippilly (partly), covering an area of approximately 37.58 square kilometres. One of the most prominent modern attractions of Marangattupilly is the Safari TV Studio Complex. Safari TV is a Malayalam exploration and infotainment channel that produces and broadcasts programmes on travel, history, geography, culture, arts and adventure.

Recognised for its contribution to the educational publishing sector, this institution has helped establish Marangattupilly as an important educational centre. Santhosh George Kulangara, founder of Safari TV and presenter of Sancharam, is also a native of this village.
